VMware IPO

Posted on Tuesday 14 August 2007

It’s been a long time since the heyday of high-tech IPOs that occurred in the late 1990’s, here in Silicon Valley. So, it’s very exciting that VMware (NYSE: VMW) is having its IPO this morning (Aug 14th, 2007).

Anyone who knows me (in a technical capacity) knows I LOVE LOVE LOVE (did I mention that I love?) VMware’s products for computer virtualization (it’s like “the software is the instrument computer”… hmmm, that sounds vaguely familiar). Whether you’re a software developer or a systems administrator, they’ve got products that will rock your world. So, I wish VMware all the best of luck on their IPO.

If you’re interested to learn more about VMware be sure to check out the article at ExpressionFlow on setting up Windows XP on VMware Server (which is free, as in beer).

Also, it’s worth noting that National Instruments showcased VMware Fusion (which allows one to run Windows, Linux and other PC operating systems on an Intel-based Mac) at NIWeek 2007 as a solution for using NI’s USB DAQ devices within LabVIEW on Mac Intel machines.

By the way, I just got back from a week-long trip to Austin for NIWeek 2007. I was very busy and a lot of cool stuff happened that I can’t wait to share with you all. Stay tuned, there’s more to come…
