I'm a visual programming guy -- I love LabVIEW. But, when I need a text-based language, I generally choose python. What's not to love? It's dynamic, clean, has an interactive environment, and is named after Monty Python. Basically, it's a great compliment to LabVIEW, IMO. That's why I was excited to learn that there is a new printed (and PDF) magazine out called Python Magazine and they have just released their first issue, which you can download for free.
I can't help by reminisce about the good old days when LabVIEW Technical Resource (LTR) was still in publication. Hmmm... I'm getting old.
