I completely agree with Matt Holt - while browsers like Chrome are cool (I played with it for a few weeks, thinking it would be my next new browser) it just doesn't have the enterprise capabilities that I need (mostly due to my company using exchange server) I don't think it's ready yet. That said, it's still in beta, so who knows what the (near) future holds?

Alternatives to IE, while great, aren't really Enterprise ready. Slim if any support for ActiveX (pretty much a necessity in enterprise environments) prevents most IT departments from shifting away from IE... and if your using IE at work, it's likely that you'll us IE at home. IE is large and in charge because of it's attempts to support everything... even if it doesn't' do so in the most efficient fashion.

Chrome looks like it's a great java browser... but even good ole' Walt claims that its slower for more complex websites.... I'm sticking with IE/Opera/Firefox for now...

Mike & Yair, I think IE is clearly on a descending trend and with Firefox, chrome and --at a lower level-- Safari it is hard to imagine IE on an ascending trend in terms of market share.
Now does this mean "out of the game" ? Well...

Mike, there are all kinds of numbers flying around, but I believe IE is usually considered to have a market share of well over 70%. That's not as much as it had two or three years ago, but it doesn't mean it's out of the game yet.

Microsoft actually lost a long time a go to Firefox. I don't think they are a player anymore, however Firefox and Safari should worry. Also, I think this will probably be the browser that will be sported on the new Android powered phones.
